About us
Atos Medical develops and sells medical devices that improve quality of life for people living with a neck stoma in over 90 countries.
Since our foundation in 1986, we have cemented ourselves as the leaders in neck stoma care, and today our business includes innovative products in laryngectomy and tracheostomy care to help people breathe, speak and live well.
We want create the best experience for our customers, and we know this involves more than first-rate product development, which is why clinical research and education of both professionals and patients are integral parts of our business.
We are a truly global organization with Swedish roots made up of about 1200 employees. Atos Medical is a part of Coloplast A/S.
1986
Atos Medical was founded in the south of Sweden by the brothers Gert and Jan-Ove Persson
1990
Through R&D in cooperation with the Netherlands cancer Institute, we launched the first Provox voice prosthesis with the aim of improving voice rehabilitation after total laryngectomy.
1996
We began our international expansion starting with subsidiaries in Europe and the United States.
2003
Designed to prevent early leakage, Provox ActiValve was introduced as our most advanced voice prosthesis until then, incorporating magnets to prevent inadvertent opening.
2009
For a more natural way of speaking in terms of fluency and phrasing, we launched Provox Vega. A voice prosthesis designed with airflow characteristics that are optimized for speaking.
2010
For improved humidification and pulmonary rehabilitation, we introduced Provox XtraFlow and Provox XtraMoist HMEs for use in various situations
2014
As a solution to manage leakage around a voice prosthesis due to an enlarged puncture, we introduced Provox Vega XtraSeal. To give more people the freedom to speak hands-free, we launched Provox FreeHands FlexiVoice
2016
We introduced Provox Coming Home to facilitate a return from hospital for users, and to present them and their caregivers with sample products and relevant information in an intuitive, step-by-step manner for guidance and support.
2017
We launched Provox Luna, a nighttime solution to help users have better nights and prepare for better days. Atos Medical received the prestigious Red Dot Product Design 2018 Award, for Provox Luna.
2018
We launched the tracheostomy brand Freevent (Not currently available in Canada), which represents high-quality devices that are designed to meet high standards for comfort, reliability and durability. Freevent Neckbands were the first product launched within this new branding.
2019
Atos Medical released its first app designed specifically for laryngectomized people and healthcare professionals. (MyLife Atos app is currently unavailable in Canada) Offering users, amongst others, instant access to products information, helpful tools and voice rehabilitation exercise.
2020
We introduced Freevent XtraCare Mini (Currently unavailable in Canada), our first HME in the pediatric segment. Freevent XtraCare Mini offers effective filtration along with good humidifcation providing vulnerable tracheostomized children with daily protection.
